formed at Enniskillen as Militia; also known until 1751 by the names of other colonels

1747 ranked as 27th Foot
1751.07.01 27th (Inniskilling) Regiment of Foot
1881.07.01 united with 108th Regiment of Foot (Madras Infantry) to become 
1st Bn, The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers

 

 

The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers
organised as the county regiment of Fermanagh, Londonderry, Tyrone and Donegal, encompassing its Militia infantry and uniting two regular battalions:

1st July 1881

  1st Battalion, redesignation of 27th (Inniskilling) Regiment of Foot

2nd Battalion, redesignation of 108th Regiment of Foot (Madras Infantry)

1924.04.14 formed one corps with The Royal Irish Fusiliers without change of title, having lost Donegal from the Regimental District by the independence of Ireland
1937 reconstituted as a separate corps
1968.07.01 united with The Royal Ulster Rifles, and The Royal Irish Fusiliers, to form
1st Bn, The Royal Irish Rangers
