Bro. G.Darcy Irvine, son of Colonel Irvine, was Worshipful Master in 1798, 1800 and 1801 and was also Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Ireland from 1796 until 1804. This Lodge raised the Lowtherstown (now known as Irvinestown) Masonic Volunteer Corps which was commanded by Colonel William Irvine, who presided at the great Volunteer convention held in Dungannon in 1782, and in 1796. G. Darcy Irvine was appointed Captain of the Corps. Many existing Lodges of that period took part in forming Corps of Volunteers, and other Lodges came into being as a result of such Corps being formed. Each corps adopted a distinctive uniform and on St. John's days these Lodges paraded in the Volunteer uniform.
